Adventures in Baby Food- Oatmeal Banana Cookies

Mia loves the Gerber banana cookies from the store, but they’re a bit on the expensive side, so I decided to try and make my own. These are a bit different from the ones you get in the store, but Mia absolutely loved them nonetheless! I thought they were really tasty and even had them for breakfast some mornings.

Mia enjoying her cookies.

Adventures in Baby Food – Oatmeal Banana Cookies

Ingredients:

1 C quick oats
1/4 C plus one tablespoon milk
1/4 t vanilla
1 ripe banana, mashed
3 T melted butter
1/4 C whole wheat flour

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350.

Combine oats, milk, and vanilla. Purée in a food mill or food processor. *The oats will look really dry even with the liquid, but once they are pureed it is fine.

Add the mashed banana to the oats, puree.

Add the melted butter and flour, puree. It look likes more pancake batter than cookie dough.

Spoon onto a greased cookie sheet. Bake for 20 minutes until the bottoms are golden brown.

Adventures in Baby Food - Blueberries

I went to the grocery store the other day and they were $1.00 for 6 ounces! This is unheard of both in and out of blueberry season so I couldn’t pass this deal up.

Mia doesn’t exactly love the tartness of blueberries on their own so I end up mixing them with her oatmeal or other fruit such as apples or pears and she loves them that way.

Adventures in Baby Food – Blueberries

Ingredients:

2 C blueberries (about 12 oz)
¼ C water

Directions:

In a medium saucepan, over medium heat, bring blueberries and water just to a boil. Cover, reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes, until blueberries are very tender. Let cool.

Transfer blueberries to blender and purée on high speed until smooth.

Push mixture through a fine sieve with a wooden spoon to remove any seeds that may be offensive to your baby.

Adventures in Baby Food - Peas

Such an easy recipe, but I’m pretty sure Mia hates peas (see picture below). Since Mia won’t be eating the peas I made, maybe I can disguise the pea purée in some brownies for Curtis. J

Adventures in Baby Food - Sweet Potatoes

One way that I show my love or appreciation for someone is by cooking for them. I am SO thrilled that I can finally cook for my little sweetheart, Mia. She turned six months old not too long ago and so our solid food quest begins…

Mia's not wearing a bib because she eats the bib and causes a bigger mess than eating without one.
